Backwaters - 33 A master boat-builder repairs and rebuilds the old kettuvallom (freight barges) salvaged by Babu Varghese of TourIndia. Not only do the kettuvallom find new life in the tourism industry as luxury houseboats, but the ancient craft of this specialised form of boat-building has been revived and handed down to some of Babu's apprentices. |
