| Kochi (formerly Cochin) on the Malabar Coast of south-western India(see Map of India) has a long history of foreign visitors, traders and colonialists including British, Potuguese, Dutch and even Chinese mariners from the court of Kublai Khan. - 105 The large, flat Chinese fishing nets are lowered into the water and at the right time three or four men, assisted by a large counter wieght, pull the nets out of the water - hopefully trapping some fish. Most people complain of of poor catches these days. |
