Carved figures
in many erotic poses decorate the
13th century Sun Temple at Konark(also known as Konarak) in Orissa.
The 72-metre tower of the temple was a landmark for European mariners
off the Orissan coast who knew the temple as the "Black Pagoda"
because of frequent marine disasters that occured here.
