The Konark Sun Temple , Orissa. Built in the 13th century by the Ganga monarch Narashimadeva, in the form of a chariot of the Sun God Surya. The temple was desecrated in the 17th century and became just an interesting ruin until early in the 20th century when the base of the temple was excavated to reveal the magnificence of the once-great edifice |
