Djemaa el Fna
At the heart of Marrakesh is a large square, Djemaa El Fna - the "magnet" of Marrakech. By day Djemaa El Fna is an open air market surrounded by shops, cafes and the discreet entrance to Marrakech's amazing labyrinth of souks.
At nightfall Djemaa El Fna converts to a huge carnival of open-air restaurants, acrobats, snake-charmers, herb doctors, dance troupes and musicians. The atmosphere is friendly and intoxicating and at least one visit to Djemaa El Fna is a "must".
